The "Fair" Paralympics

"Classification"

Sports classification can be a very difficult aspect. After reading the professor's remarks and the articles on the subject, it is clear that classification can easily lead to issues, particularly if a player is ineligible because of a disability or if they perform below their capabilities to be placed in a lower category to win. With classification, a player's confidence may be damaged if they are unable to participate in the game again. Some people, especially those who are disabled, already believe that their disability makes them less than perfect. If they are then excluded from playing a sport this can upset them even more. The world encourages treating everyone fairly and including everyone, but then we see the Paralympics exclude some individuals. I believe that including everyone with disabilities in the Paralympics is a good idea and that all athletes with any kind of disability should be included in any sport because of this. Those who are deemed "ineligible" should be placed in their own category and permitted to compete with one another. With fewer upset athletes, the Paralympics will be more inclusive.

"Making it Inclusive"

While this will make the Paralympic inclusive, many people fear this will not create a fair playing field with so many different disabilities. This is reasonable given that various disabilities provide a variety of challenges and necessitate particular needs. To make the classification process more equitable, we could evaluate this. As I have stated, those who have been declared ineligible should only be permitted to compete against other ineligible individuals. Because they are competing against individuals who are on an equal footing with them, I believe it would not matter if they had different limitations in this circumstance. They participate in competitions with a variety of disabilities, just like others who compete. After that, they can be evaluated into several groups using a set of classification procedures that compare athletes' talent, fitness, power, endurance, tactical prowess, and mental attention to those of everyone else.

"Make a Change"

While some people might perform below their ability to move up a level, it's crucial to pay attention to these aspects to prevent it. Making these sports accessible to people with all disabilities is also crucial. Whether it be to get new equipment or anything else that will enable the athlete to compete. These assistive devices must be evaluated to ensure that the individual using them does not have a greater benefit than someone who does not need to use them. Making a fair play field might be difficult in the Paralympics with all disabilities but I think it is something we need to strive for. This is not something that will happen overnight and might be trial and error but we have to start somewhere to not exclude these athletes.
